In Memory of Ruth Bell Graham

Behind every great man is a great woman. Such was the case with Rev. Billy Graham, whose wife, Ruth Bell Graham, played an instrumental role in her husband's global crusade for Christ. We were saddened to hear of Mrs. Graham's death yesterday at the age of 87. Through more than six decades of dedication, both to marriage and Billy's calling, Ruth earned the love and admiration of all who knew her. As a wife and ministry help-mate, mother of five, grandmother of nineteen, and great-grandmother, we pay tribute to her legacy of selfless devotion and commitment to family. As Rev. Graham said, "...We were called by God as a team. No one else could have borne the load that [Ruth] carried... My work through the years would have been impossible without her." Our prayers go out to Rev. Graham and his family in the midst of their loss. May they be comforted by the knowledge that she is now face to face with Jesus and many of the people she and her husband led to a saving knowledge of Him.
